As if Utah’s terrain weren’t spectacular enough, the month of September cranks the awe factor up to eleven. expect consistently flyable conditions, comfortable temperatures, and brilliant foliage colors. We will take full advantage, offering 7 full days of flying around the state.
Pilot, meet Desert.
This trip is for budding XC pilots (Current, 15+Hr P2 & P3) seeking an introduction to the high Desert West. In Utah, the air is higher, drier, and hotter than most regions of North America. As a result, it’s not uncommon to find massive (seriously MASSIVE) lift and sink throughout the thermic part of each day. Add high altitude, remote routes, and rugged, cactus-filled landscape, and there is good reason to approach with caution. So if you’re keen to expand your menu of sky skill set without facing the hidden dangers on your own, this trip is for you.
Gimme all the sites…
We’ll be headquartered at the Point of the Mountain (POTM) in Draper, UT. Not only do we get to cut down travel time with accomodation near a world-famous soaring site, we’ll also be plugged into one of the most active free-flight communities in the country. And, we’ll be within easy driving distance of all the Wasatch. From this central location, we’ll let the weather guide our exploration to other famous sites such as Cove, Monroe, and The V.
